The Ministry of Culture believes that teamwork and support for the creation of collaborative networking between our professionals, are key points to achieve stability in a background that gets more and more globalized and competitive. With this premise, borns E.CO 2010, a Meeting of Euro-American Photographic Collectives, whose proposal is to create a space for reflection in which collectives could discuss about new methods to increase their projects’ visibility, and also generate new strategies that enable their work’s production.

First in Madrid and later in Soria, E.CO 2010 will assemble 20 photographic collectives, from different countries from Europe and Latin America, that will discuss with editors, researchers and other professionals of this media, the problematical and needs of the photographic medium. The meeting will also present an exhibition about environment, curated by Claudi Carreras, with the photographies that each group has been working on, for several months.

After finishing their work in Madrid, the photographers will travel to Soria, where they will make a collective photographic activity. There, groups could meet and photograph the rich and artistic cultural heritage of the region, on a pioneering activity, supposed to be a challenge for the team. The result of this massive intervention will be presented to the public as a big imagery party.

With the celebration of E.CO 2010, we hope that all scheduled activities and exhibitions will serve to provide a better understanding of the collectives’ task in the field of contemporary imagery. It will serve also to establish and strengthen connections between photographic professionals, in order to support its International dissemination. Ultimately, it’s a way to bring another aspect of photography to anyone interested in it.
